Under the patronage of Dr. Jean-Henri Hanna, President of Beni Suef University of Technology, the university’s Unit for Combating Violence against Women participated in a workshop to build the capabilities of directors and coordinators of units for combating violence against women in technological universities, which was implemented by the General Administration for Combating Violence against Women at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the National Council. For women and the United Nations Population Fund in a Cairo hotel.
The workshop witnessed the presence of: A. Mamdouh Sayed, Head of the Ministry’s Central Administration for Technical Education, Mr. Hala Muhammad Al-Amin, Chairman of the Equal Opportunities Committee at the Ministry of Higher Education, and Eng. Amal Shaaban, Head of the Central Administration for Administrative and Engineering Affairs and member of the Ministry’s Equal Opportunities Committee.
The workshop included many lectures and presentations on the role of violence against women units, their specializations and the efforts made to support them, in addition to legal awareness to protect women from all forms of violence.
During the workshop, the university’s Unit for Combating Violence against Women presented a presentation of the most important activities and events that it has implemented. The targeted objectives of these activities were also reviewed, in addition to a video showing of female university students participating in Camp Henna at the Leadership Preparation Institute about their role in participating in activities related to women.
At the end of the workshop, members of the university unit were honored in appreciation of their role in the field of women’s empowerment and enhancing the capabilities of university students.
Dr. Jean-Henri, University President, expressed his appreciation for the role of the Egyptian state, which was keen to launch strategies, initiatives and community programs supporting women, which contributed to building their capabilities and empowering them politically, economically and socially, and integrating them as an active and pioneering element in sustainable development plans, as well as preserving these gains by establishing A legislative and institutional framework that supports their rights, with an emphasis on enhancing their role in various fields, and enhancing women’s ability to face challenges by stimulating equality in society and equal opportunities, so that these efforts reflect the size of the state’s bet on Egyptian women and their ability to competently carry out many achievements, in addition to their role. In preserving the fabric of society and its ties.
The President of the University also thanked the members of the Unit for Combating Violence against Women at the University for their efforts in implementing activities and events in this field, and their keenness to advance the University by achieving its mission and role in developing, developing and serving society.
