Under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, Prime Minister, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, on behalf of the President of the Republic, opened this Saturday morning the major international celebration organized by the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, to launch the “Year of ISESCO for Youth”, in the presence of Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Chairman of the Egyptian National Commission for Education, Science and Culture (UNESCO – ALECSO – ISESCO), Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization “ISESCO”, and a number of ministers of countries. Islamic Affairs, ambassadors, heads of international authorities and organizations, with the participation of Dr. Jan-Henri Hanna, President of Beni Suef Technological University, leaders of the Ministry of Higher Education, heads of public, national, private and technological universities, public figures, businessmen,youth, professors, scientists, experts and researchers in various scientific, educational and cultural specializations from Egypt and   other Islamic countries, in the New Administrative Capital for Egypt.

​At the beginning of the celebration, Dr. Mostafa Madbouly watched a simulation of the General Conference of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), during which number of youth, who are  representatives of states participating in this conference, discussed the challenges facing the Islamic world in the fields of education, science, culture, communication and humanities, and made recommendations to confront these challenges.  During the celebration, the outputs of the innovation laboratories for ISESCO youth from the Islamic world and beyond were presented and they were hosted by the Creativity and Innovation Center at Ain Shams University, as well as  discussing a group of ideas and proposals for contributing to developing strategies capable of improving educational and social conditions and protecting and valuing heritage in  the Islamic countries.

 

In his speech, Dr.Ayman Ashour stressed the interest of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in providing all means of support to youth as they are the main factors of the comprehensive development, pointing to the number of events in which the President participated, including the Egyptian Universities Excellence Day, which was held for the first time in the history of the universities, and the World Youth Forum and its various activities, in addition to launching  the ISESCO Year of Youth 2023, hosted by the Arab Republic of Egypt, and many  other events that enjoy the participation and support of the President of the Republic.

Dr.Ayman Ashour pointed out that President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has provided “100 scholarships for education in our universities” as a contribution from Egypt to support talents  in  Islamic countries, in 4 educational tracks: (Science and Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Arts, Literature and Culture, Quality of Life and Health. ), explaining that the 100 scholarships will be offered in the higher educational institutions of an international nature, stressing that 337 inter-professional programs based on foreign partnerships are being offered , and these scholarships are being sponsored within the “Egypt Scholarships and Educational Tourism EGYAID” initiative, which was launched last August. .

 

The Minister pointed out that the four basic axes of ISESCO, which include (education, science and technology, social and human sciences, and culture), are consistent with the national strategy for higher education and scientific research that was launched last March, which includes 7 main principles, namely (integration, interdiciplinary, communication, effective participation, sustainability, international reference, innovation and entrepreneurship).

 

Dr. Ayman Ashour valued that The Arab Republic of Egypt has obtained the chairmanchip of the General Conference of ISESCO in 2021 that last for a period of 4 years (2021-2025), pointing out that the conference consists of ministers of states or their deputies who are appointed by their governments, and the meeting is held every 3 years.

 

For his part, Dr. Salem bin Muhammad Al-Malik, Director-General of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), praised the interest of the Egyptian political leadership in youth issues, their demands and their future, extending his thanks to Egypt for hosting this important event. He noted that ISESCO has allocated, within its new modernization vision, a distinguished place for youth, by raising the percentage of young people in the organization’s staffing structure, so that its employees under 35 years of age represent 41%, expressing his aspiration that their percentage can reach 60%, during the next two years, in addition to launching many short and long-term training programs for the new generation. Of youth. He also noted that successive conferences and seminars are being held in the fields of the future professions, such as: (artificial intelligence, space science, environmental protection, heritage preservation and development, and programs with practical dimensions, such as the annual GITEX program, and the program of accelerators and catalysts for entrepreneurship and company building), In addition to the ISESCO Ambassadors’ initiative for Peace, in which the number of young ambassadors will reach 500 until 2025.

 

For his part, Dr. Jan Henry, President of the University, emphasized  that the young men have an important role in changing and developing societies and achieving sustainable development, calling for  preparing a distinguished generation capable of adapting to the the present, facing its challenges, aware of the requirements of the future, and armed with the thought of the new republic.

 

Dr.. Jan said that this important event is an opportunity to activate the role of youth in society, within the framework of the political leadership’s interest in youth and working to embrace them, develop their capabilities, enhance their skills, promote the values of loyalty and belonging and link the youth to the achievements of the new republic, led by President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

 

The events included presenting ISESCO’s vision in the field of capacity building for youth in the Islamic world, and the efforts of the Egyptian state in empowering youth during the era of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, as well as presenting the role of the Ministry of Higher Education in supporting creators, innovators and geniuses.

 

On the margins of the celebration, the audience watched a distinguished artistic performance presented by the ISESCO Choir.

 

At the conclusion of the celebration, a group of creative, brilliant and innovative young people in the Islamic world were honored.

 

It is worth noting that the Islamic World Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) was founded in 1979, and its headquarters are located in the Moroccan city ‘Rabat’. Its membership includes 54 countries (17 countries from Africa, 21 countries from the Arab region, 14 countries from Asia, and two countries from… The Latin American region), in addition to two countries with observer status, and the Arab Republic of Egypt joined it in 1984. The organization aims to achieve interconnection, integration and strategic coordination between the countries of the Islamic world in their areas of competence, as well as strengthening the capabilities of educational organizations and improving their indicators in member states, in addition to stimulating the comprehensive cultural development of the peoples of the Islamic world.
