Dr. Jean-Henry Hanna, President of Beni Suef Technological University, received a delegation of German and Egyptian experts to discuss cooperation in the implementation of the renewable energy support and efficiency program project in technical education TEREEE. It is organized by the Ministry of Education and Technical Education, in partnership with the German consulting company GOPA-Infra, Misr El Kheir Foundation, and the Educational Buildings Authority, and is funded by the German Construction Bank KFW and the European Union EU. It aims to improve the technical and human capabilities to provide high-quality vocational training, in line with the requirements of the labor market.
The meeting discussed benefiting from international experiences in the project to train the university’s teaching staff, and the possibility of entering Beni Suef Technological University in joint cooperation with a German university. They also discussed cooperation in preparing renewable energy curricula for students, cooperation in raising the efficiency of the faculty of the Center of Excellence, in addition to discussing the possibility of accepting graduates of the Center of Excellence at the university.
During the meeting, the President of the University gave a detailed presentation on the study programs and technological laboratories at the university, the protocols signed with industrial institutions and various bodies, and the scientific, educational and community services provided by the university. In addition to the university’s future plan, which includes the possibility of expanding study programs, constructions and new buildings. The delegation also made another detailed presentation that included a vision of the objectives and objectives of the project and the definition of the tasks of the centers of excellence (CoC).
In his speech, Dr. Jan saluted the German side for its contribution to supporting and developing technical education in the fields of renewable energy. He expressed his happiness with this visit to discuss aspects of cooperation to advance technological education and vocational training and promote sustainable energy, by feeding the labor markets with highly qualified technologists capable of dealing with the latest technologies in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sectors. He also stressed that Egypt is rich in natural resources, especially wind and solar energy, which qualifies it to be one of the largest producers of renewable energy in the world.
After the meeting, the President of the University accompanied the delegation to inspect the university’s study laboratories, where experts praised the university’s capabilities and the level of study laboratories and their readiness with the latest technological means and equipment aimed at serving students and the educational process.
The project delegation included Uwe Mr. Wieckenberg, Mr. Dernbach Andereas Hubert, Ms. Amani Adiba, Eng. Mushir Ali Ismail, Eng. Mahmoud Adel Diab, Dr. Mahmoud Fathallah Hassan, Mr. Ahmed Atef Salem.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mustafa Hassan Metwally, Secretary General of the University, Dr. Emad Gamil, Vice Dean of the Egyptian-Korean College of Industry and Energy Technology, Dr. Bahaa Mustafa, Vice Dean for Training and Industry Affairs, and a number of study program coordinators.
It is worth mentioning that the TEREEE project aims to improve the quality of technical education and vocational training in the renewable energy sector and the optimal use of energy. It aims to prepare young people to join the labor market, as the project comes within the agreement to strengthen the current German financial cooperation project to establish centers of excellence in the new and renewable energy and energy efficiency sector, as well as the modernization of many technical education schools.
