Dr. Jan Henri Hanna, President of Beni Suef Technological University, participated in the meeting of the Supreme Council for Technological Education, headed by Dr. Mohamed Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and in the presence of Dr. Ahmed Al-Sabbagh, Advisor to the Minister for Technical and Technological Education and Acting Secretary of the Council, and members of the Council including: presidents of technological universities, and a number of Representatives of the Ministries of Education, Technical Education, Defense, Military Production, Trade and Industry, Manpower, Communications and Information Technology, at the Ministry’s headquarters in the New Administrative Capital.
Dr. Ayman Ashour stressed that technological universities represent a modern and important branch of higher education in Egypt, as they aim to provide technical caders trained at the highest level to join the labor market, locally, regionally and internationally, and to participate in the process of sustainable development in accordance with Egypt’s Vision 2030, pointing to the directives of President Abdel Fattah. Al-Sisi to expand the path of technological education by establishing 17 new technological universities, so that technological universities will exist in all governorates of the Republic, stressing the importance of expanding this type of education as it meets a real need for the state.
The Minister stressed his interest in periodically monitoring the educational process in technological universities to ensure the success of this distinguished educational experience, stressing the continuation of establishing partnerships with prestigious international universities, exchanging experiences with foreign entities, and cooperating with industrial authorities in providing appropriate training for students, and supporting and implementing applicable research and scientific projects, to serve the various manufacturing sectors, as well as developing the academic programs and regulations in accordance with global changes and labor market needs.
During the meeting, Dr. Ayman Ashour received a detailed presentation from the presidents of technological universities on the performance of the technological universities since the beginning of the current academic year. The Minister directed to provide all necessary support to technological universities, especially in the field of information infrastructure in cooperation with the relevant authorities in order to support and develop these universities.
The meeting discussed mechanisms for strengthening the relationship between technological universities and industrial bodies, activating cooperation protocols with the industry sector to train students, providing training for workers in the industrial sector to raise their efficiency, and conducting continuous studies of the labor market and its needs, and linking them to new academic programs. The Council also discussed the position of the information infrastructure in technological universities, Stressing the need to complete the work of establishing laboratories and furniture in technological universities.
The Council agreed to approve the results of the universities’ job needs competition for faculty members, supporting staff, technicians, and administrators. The Council also approved the adoption of the financial and administrative regulations for the University Center for Professional Development, based on the cooperation protocol that was signed between the American University in Cairo and the universities of (Delta Technological, Beni Suef Technological, New Cairo Technology)
