Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Mohamed Hanea Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, Mr. Hong Jin Wook, Ambassador of South Korea to Egypt, and Prof. Sayed Abdel Qader, President of Beni Suef University of Technology, inaugurated the new laboratories equipped with the latest modern and advanced technological devices.
This came during a ceremony held by Beni Suef Technological University today to inaugurate the new academic laboratories and on the occasion of the one-year anniversary of the university establishment in the presence of Prof. Mansour Hassan – President of Beni Suef University, Prof. Hussam Al-Mallahi – President of Al-Nahda University, Mr. Oh Yun Keum – Regional Director of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), Mr. Chunky Kwan – Chairman of the Board of Directors of Samsung, members of the House of Representatives and Elders in Beni Suef and a number of leading and executive figures and industrialists.
During their visit to the university, Higher Education Minister, Beni Suef Governor, and the Korean ambassador, accompanied by the University President, inaugurated the academic laboratories that the International Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA) funded by providing them with the latest equipment and modern technological equipment.
The Minister of Higher Education, the Governor of Beni Suef, and the Korean Ambassador praised the advanced academic laboratories and the effort made to contribute to the renaissance of technological education and the graduation of highly skilled and qualified cadres who can keep pace with the local, regional and international labor market.
The celebration began with a presentation by some students to introduce the study programs at the university as well as their aspirations in their practical life after graduation. The students’ performance was distinguished during the presentation, especially as the students presented themselves and their ideas in English. Then a documentary film about the university was shown. After that the university’s guests gave their speeches. At the end of the ceremony, Beni Suef Technological University signed a joint cooperation protocol with Samsung Company.
In his speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research thanked the State of South Korea and KOICA for its technical support to the university, and thanked Korean Tech University for its contribution to participating in the educational process, praising the modern technological laboratories. He also praised the level of university students, stressing the work on opening many modern scientific programs that meet the needs of students, highlighting the importance of practical training that students receive in factories such as the Samsung factory.
Minister Abdel Ghaffar explained that work is underway to establish 6 technological universities as a first stage in the cities of Taibah, Burj Al Arab, Sixth of October, East Ismailia and others, stressing that the goal is to establish 25 technological universities. At the end of his speech, the Minister of Higher Education thanked the President of the Beni Suef Technological University for the great effort made at the university.
During his speech, the Governor of Beni Suef asserted that the Beni Suef Technological University is a great edifice because its goal is to promote technical and technological education and to provide qualified human cadres to keep pace with the size of industries on the land of Beni Suef.
The governor expressed his admiration for the university because of the serious management he found, the technical capabilities he saw at the highest level, and the honorable student thinking that calls for pride, stressing his interest in expanding the university’s march and developing it through the creation of new programs and colleges to serve the local, regional and international labor market.
The Governor thanked the South Korean Ambassador and KOICA Agency for their support to the university, as well as he thanked Prof. Sayed Abdul Qadir, the university president, the university administration and all its staff for their continuous efforts in advancing the university and the educational process.
During his speech, Prof. Dr. Sayed Abdel Qader, President of the University, expressed his happiness with this achievement, indicating that this day is the culmination of the effort made over the previous period to promote technological education.
The University President asserted that the technological universities establish a different thinking and approach and a new vision that leads us towards the path of development, referring to the role of political leadership in sponsoring technological universities, and clarifying that the Beni Suef Technological University is working day and night in order to advance the educational process and work on studying the needs of the labor market. That is why the university is taking important steps in the process of expansion and development of new programs with the aim of improving the quality of the educational process and meeting the needs of students to produce generations who are able to keep pace with the local, regional and international labor market.
The university president emphasized the continuation of cooperation with all the Korean partners in the Korean Embassy, the Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA) and in the Korea University of Technology and Education (Korea tech) in order to benefit from the Korean experience in the field of education and industry.
At the end of his speech, Prof. Abdel Qader thanked the Minister of Higher Education for his outstanding efforts and sponsorship of technological universities, and also thanked the Governor of Beni Suef for his confidence and belief in the university, stressing that he would continue working with the governorate to expand the university’s march and development and to serve the nation and the citizen in various fields in order to achieve comprehensive development.
Mr. Hong Jin Wook, Ambassador of the State of South Korea, expressed his happiness for attending this ceremony, which is a symbol of cooperation between the two countries, Egypt and South Korea, describing the Beni Suef Technological University as a wonderful nascent university. The ambassador indicated that cooperation between Egypt and South Korea will continue in various fields with more respect in the coming years. His excellency also expressed his wishes for university students to participate in the external labor market and in large companies such as Samsung, pointing to work to strengthen the link between graduates and the labor market.
Mr. Oh Yeon Keum, Regional Director of the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) described the city of Beni Suef as the best place on the land of Egypt and that it is close to him personally, thanking the President of the University for his wise leadership, and stressing the continuation of cooperation between Beni Suef Technological University and the Korean Agency for International Cooperation KOICA) to provide the best technical and technological education in Egypt. He expressed his happiness with the students, pointing out that the celebration of the Korean Embassy coincided with the 25th anniversary of the Egyptian-Korean relations with this celebration, stressing that the Beni Suef Technological University is the best example of this cooperation. He pointed to the continuation of permanent cooperation between the Korean Agency for International Cooperation (KOICA) and the State of South Korea with Egypt and its technological universities in all sectors.
In a recorded video speech, Professor Choi, Director of the Egyptian-Korean Project for Industry and Energy Technology, affirmed that Beni Suef Technological University provides education that contributes to supporting the industry, noting that the aim of studying in it is to qualify specialists and technicians and provide them with knowledge and skills. He added that the Korean University professors have developed curriculum that suit the needs of the labor market, in addition to the support provided by the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) for the laboratories and providing them with the latest modern technological equipment and devices. Professor Choi said that South Korea will invite faculty members at Beni Suef Technological University to visit it to transfer experience and knowledge within the framework of cultural exchange.
Mr. Chunky Kwan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Samsung, expressed his happiness in cooperating with Beni Suef Technological University and wished in the near future to join technological universities students, especially students of Beni Suef Technological University, to work in the company.
At the end of the ceremony, Prof. Abdul Qadir represented the university’s armor to the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research for his superior and distinguished efforts in the educational process, also he presented the university’s armor to each of: the governor of Beni Suef, the South Korean Ambassador, the president of Beni Suef University, the president of Al-Nahda University, and the regional director of the Korean International Cooperation Agency. (KOICA) and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Samsung, in appreciation of their role and their efforts in cooperating with the University.
