In an important step to enhance the status of technological universities, the Council of Ministers approved a draft law regarding issuing a Technologists Syndicate Law, which comes within the framework of working to regulate the profession of technologists, bringing graduates together under a union that works to promote their position in the labor market, establish confidence among its members, qualify them with the necessary skills, knowledge and traditions, as well as opening direct communication paths with the various relevant authorities with the aim of marketing and publicizing this category, preserving and developing their profession, working to help them, and providing them with social and health services.

The articles of the draft law set out the objectives which the syndicate seeks to achieve, which includes working to enhance the position of technologists and upgrading their professional level in accordance with obligatory professional regulations and standards, as determined by the internal regulations, preserving the dignity of the profession, defending its workers, following-up on commitment to the traditions, ethics and principles of the profession, in addition to working to develop and improve the performance of the members to keep pace with technological development, to encourage and promote innovations and improvements in various technological fields, to spread skills and knowledge by supporting and strengthening applied research and experimental work, to work on spreading technological awareness, and to support graduates with the required trainings and courses to develop them professionally and scientifically.

In addition to participating and contributing to planning and developing technological educational programs and various training methods, by keeping pace with the requirements of the local and international labor market. The syndicate also aims to pay attention to the social, material and health aspects of the members, to develop the spirit of brotherhood and acquaintance among them, and to provide social, economic and health services to them and their families.

The draft law stipulated the conditions for membership and registration in the syndicate’s schedules, and the cases in which membership in the syndicate ends. The draft also stipulated the bodies that make up the syndicate, whether the general assembly or the syndicate’s council, and the specializations related to those bodies, and what is required for whoever runs for the position of the head or the agent of the syndicate.

The draft law also stipulated the financial system of the syndicate, the pension fund and subsidies, the duties and obligations of the members, as well as the disciplinary system imposed on the syndicate’s member who violates the duties, morals and traditions of his profession or refrains from implementing the decisions of the general assembly or the decisions of the union council.

The students of Bani-Swief Technological University expressed their happiness in establishing a syndicate for technologists, stressing that it is a guarantee of their rights and a guarantee for their future in addition to the benefits that will be granted to them upon joining the union after graduation, thanking everyone who contributed to the establishment of this projec
