Bani Swief Technological University witnessed the meeting of the First University Council headed by Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shoukr Nada, Acting University President, in the presence of Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Hewi, Advisor to the Minister of Higher Education for Technical Education and Secretary-General of the Education Development Fund of the Cabinet of Ministers, a number of Korean partners, and university students via video conference.

 

Dr. Nada, University President, expressed his happiness with the holding of the University Council, stressing the importance of cooperation between the University and industrial bodies and institutions in various fields to achieve Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the goals of sustainable development.

 

The University President expressed his thanks to His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt, for his interest in developing technical and technological education, raising competencies and graduating qualified students for the local, regional and international labor market. Thanks were also extended to Prof. Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, for his continuous support to technological universities.

 

Dr. Ahmed Al-Hewi pointed out that the holding of the University Council for the first time represents a qualitative leap in the University’s path. He also emphasized working on providing smart university components and means of digital transformation through providing the necessary support for the advancement of the University towards completing its educational path.

 

Mr. Oh Yeon Keum, Country Director of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), expressed his admiration of the recent University developments, and welcomed further cooperation between the Egyptian and Korean sides in the coming period.

 

The council reviewed a number of topics aimed at improving the functioning of the work system. It also reviewed the University’s strategic plan for technological development, developing local manufacturing capabilities, and discussing cooperation protocols that are to be worked on with many international and Egyptian universities, national institutions and major industrial entities such as (The Egyptian Electricity Holding Company – Al Nasr Automobiles Company – National Authority for Military Production – Nuclear Materials Authority – Egypt Cable Company – Nahda University – Belarusian National Technical University – Reutlingen German University).

 

The council also discussed the details of submitting a proposal for a new grant from the Korean side to support the University which could be up to $8 million and will last for four years after the current grant ends. The grant includes the establishment of a consultative educational training center for technical education, as well as the development of new technological programs such as railway technology, in addition to developing the existing programs and discussing the University’s obtaining of international accreditation and quality, and the training of faculty members and staff in accordance with the global foundations of technological education.
