Under the patronage of Dr. Jean-Henry Hanna, President of Beni Suef University of Technology, the Equal Opportunities and Anti-Discrimination against Women Unit, in cooperation with UICC, organized a workshop entitled “Be a Pioneer” to train on the foundations of entrepreneurship and link graduates to the labor market, based on the vision of the political leadership to support and sponsor various strategies concerned with the rehabilitation and empowerment of women, in which Dr. Ghada Toson, General Coordinator of the Unit and Director of the University’s Link Center with Industry, lectured.
The workshop included highlighting the themes of entrepreneurship, the characteristics of the entrepreneur, how to choose projects, the stages of design thinking for entrepreneurial ideas, the definition of startups and analysis tools, work plans, stages and requirements for each stage, introducing students to the importance of studying the needs of the client, and the steps to develop the project idea and turn it into reality.
Dr. Jan stressed that the university is keen to implement a number of workshops and training programs for students that help them launch their distinguished project ideas from the idea stage to the implementation stage on the ground, explaining that the idea and vision of entrepreneurship in the first place aims to establish a creative, innovative and productive Egyptian knowledge society. It is worth mentioning that the Unit for Equal Opportunities, Anti-Discrimination against Women and Support for People of Determination aims to empower women and preserve their rights, address and eliminate forms of discrimination against women inside and outside the university, remove their economic, social or psychological effects, support people of determination, protect their rights and integrate them within the university and society, spread awareness and culture, and consolidate the values of equality, equal opportunities and non-discrimination in this field.
