Prof. Dr. Mohamed Shoukr Nada, President of Bani Swief Technological University, announced the launch of the “Beginning of a Dream” competition at Bani Swief Technological University in cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports under the patronage of Mrs. Entissar El-Sisi, Spouse of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. This comes within the framework of President El-Sisi’s sponsorship of the Egyptian youth and their empowerment in various fields.
The University President stressed the importance of such initiatives, aimed at creating work team and integrating the youth in various activities. The importance of this competition lies in achieving the highest rate of participation of the youth in community building, training and qualifying them, raising efficiency and productivity levels, and consolidating standards, ethics and positive behaviors through the practical practice of the youth, and the effective link between the various initiatives and Egypt’s Vision 2030 in a way that enhances the youth’s confidence in the integrated national system, enhancing the value of teamwork and consolidating the principle of reward as a result of proficiency and productivity.
It is worth mentioning that the “Beginning of a Dream” competition is the biggest competition for ideas and those who come up with initiatives at the level of the Republic, with a total prize amount of one million and 370 thousand Egyptian pounds, which is implemented by the Central Department of Cultural and Voluntary Programs at the Ministry of Youth and Sports – General Department of Universities. The events include a training entitled “Social Initiatives and Entrepreneurship”. The training begins with defining the initiatives, their importance for the society, their types and stages, the formation of the work team, problem solving, the implementation plan, evaluation and follow-up.
The competition consists of two main tracks: supporting the ideas of emerging initiatives with the aim of focusing on empowering Egyptian youth to participate in providing solutions to surrounding societal problems to reduce them, train and educate young people on the importance of community work, developing their skills, and supporting existing initiatives with the aim of highlighting and supporting existing community initiatives to reach the largest number of beneficiaries and help them to spread and overcome the surrounding societal problems effectively.
The organizing committee of the “Beginning of a Dream” project has set conditions for the competition so that the number of team members is from 3 to 5 people, the age group is from 18 to 35 years, one of the team members plays the role of a coach-mentor, and neither the initiative owner nor the team members are allowed registering for more than one initiative. The initiative is required to have a societal impact and to be linked to one of the objectives of Egypt’s Vision 2030.
