Dr. Ayman Ashour, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, issued a decision appointing Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Khedr as the Acting President of Beni-Suef Technological University.

 

Prof. Dr. Mohamed Mahmoud Khedr holds a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Cairo University in 1984, a Master’s degree in Inorganic Chemistry from Cairo University in 1990, and a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from Cairo University in collaboration with the Institute of Metal Research in 1994.

 

Throughout his career, Dr. Khedr has held various academic positions, starting as an assistant researcher at the Institute of Metal Research in 1986 and progressing to become a lecturer and then an assistant professor at the same institute until 1997. He also served as a lecturer at the Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Beni-Suef Branch, until 2002. In 2002, he became an associate professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology at the Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University. Over the years, he has held several administrative positions, including founding and heading the Nanotechnology Unit at the Faculty of Science, Beni-Suef University, in 2004.

 

Dr. Khedr has received several prestigious awards, such as the State Award for Excellence in Advanced Technological Sciences in 2015, the Appreciation Award from Beni-Suef University in 2015, and the Sciences and Arts Medal from President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi in 2017. He was also recognized as one of the top 2% of scientists worldwide according to a list compiled by Stanford University, USA, based on standardized citation metrics.

 

He is the founder and dean of the College of Advanced Sciences at Beni-Suef University, which is the first college in Egypt and the Middle East to offer diplomas, master’s, and doctoral degrees in various modern disciplines such as Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Biotechnology, Renewable and New Energy, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Sciences, Medical Chemistry, and Stem Cell Biology. The college started operating in October 2013.

 

Dr. Khedr has played a pivotal role in the establishment of the Excellence Center for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology at Beni-Suef University and has successfully secured funding for numerous research projects. He also founded the Advanced Research Center at Beni-Suef University, which includes the Research and Project Funding Unit, the Training and Conferences Unit, the Research-Industry Linkage Unit, and the Publication Unit.

 

Furthermore, Dr. Khedr initiated the establishment of the Central Laboratory at Beni-Suef University, equipped with state-of-the-art instruments worth EGP 120 million. He also contributed to the development of the university’s electronic portal and served as its director for 18 months. In addition, he founded the Center for Innovators and Talented Individuals among the faculty members.
