Dr. Jean-Henry Hanna, President of Beni Suef University of Technology, received Eng. Maha Mandour, CEO of BTS Holding for Investments. The meeting was attended by Dr. Ali Abdel Tawab, Dean of the Egyptian-Korean College of Industry and Energy Technology, Dr. Emad Gamil, Vice Dean for Education and Student Affairs, Dr. Bahaa Mostafa, Vice Dean for Training and Industry Affairs, and Mr. Mustafa Hassan Metwally, Secretary General of the University.
The meeting discussed ways of joint cooperation between the two sides in the fields of entrepreneurship through the implementation of the Applied Technology Valley project at the university. The project aims to provide services to enrich community awareness of the thought of entrepreneurship, innovation and self-employment, starting with the preparation and implementation of training and qualification programs, specialized programs for innovation and entrepreneurship, localization of local technological industries and marketing them locally, regionally and globally, and other programs for investment and financing startups. This is in addition to building student cadres with highly specialized scientific and professional skills.
For his part, Dr. Jan stressed that the university aims to continuously develop students’ skills and harness the capabilities to qualify them for the labor market, pointing to the university’s interest in cooperation and partnership with public institutions and civil society institutions to incubate projects with the aim of spreading the culture of entrepreneurship. This is in addition to working to narrow the gap between curricula and the labor market and empowering young people to establish projects based on the outputs of scientific research.
After the meeting, the university hosted a seminar to introduce the objectives of the initiative. Eng. Maha Mandour stressed that technological universities represent a very important part of the educational structure that is specialized in contributing effectively to economic and social development. It provides technological education with the quality and efficiency required by the labor market.
It is worth mentioning that the Egyptian Applied Technology Valley “Kemtech Valley” is an initiative between BTSS Holding for Investments and the Supreme Council for Technological Education of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The initiative aims to support and nurture distinguished student cadres, innovative entrepreneurs, research projects and startups in the fields of applied technology in line with the skills and jobs of the future, and Egypt’s need for skills and competencies by inviting the private sector of international and local companies and institutions to invest in the applied and research sector to support innovation, technology and scientific research. This is with the aim of enhancing cooperation for scientific and practical cooperation to support and develop society and build bridges between the private sector and the private sector in line with the labor market and achieve excellence, creativity and global leadership of technological competencies that serve the industrial sector and the rest of the economic sectors in implementation of Egypt’s strategy for sustainable development 2030.
