Under the patronage of Dr. Jean-Henry Hanna, President of Beni Suef Technological University, the university organized an awareness seminar on the dangers of addiction. This is within the framework of the implementation of the Supreme Council for Technological Education an integrated plan with the Fund for Combating and Treating Addiction of the Ministry of Social Solidarity with the aim of providing a suitable healthy environment for all students of technological universities, as well as maintaining the public health of students and keeping them away from wrong practices that harm them, the most important of which are addiction, drug abuse, and other means that affect the general health of students.
The seminar was held in the presence of Dr. Ali Abdel Tawab, Dean of the Egyptian-Korean College of Industry and Energy Technology. Mr. Alaa Shehata Ibrahim, supervisor of Beni Suef Governorate, lectured with the participation of some volunteers, a number of faculty members, administrators and students. The symposium dealt with the reasons that lead to an increase in the rate of abuse and addiction in society, the types of drugs, their harms and the risks of addiction to the future of the country in various health, social and economic aspects, and methods of confrontation and treatment. This is part of the national plan to combat the phenomenon of addiction and drug abuse implemented by the Fund to Combat Addiction Treatment in all governorates of the Republic in cooperation with all ministries and governorates. The State adopts it within the framework of efforts to build people and preserve the health and safety of citizens.
During the seminar, a short film was screened on raising awareness of the danger of addiction to human health and building society economically and socially, as well as methods and methods of confrontation and how to treat addicts. She stressed the importance of raising awareness and creating awareness among young people, spreading means of awareness and education about the harms and dangers of drugs, addiction and abuse, and developing personal and social skills. The volunteers also toured the university to educate students about the dangers of addiction and drug abuse.
For his part, the President of the University stressed the importance of activating such initiatives and events that are concerned with awareness and education about the dangers of drugs. He explained the importance of shedding light on the phenomenon of drug abuse and raising awareness of its dangers to the individual and society, and the need to form social, cultural and health awareness of its harms, modify the attitudes of individuals and correct some misconceptions. He called on students to take advantage of these initiatives to be ambassadors to raise awareness of the dangers of addiction and abuse inside and outside the university.
