Dr. Jean-Henri Hanna, President of Beni Suef Technological University, received a delegation from the “Egypt Fulbright Commission,” which included Dr. Maggie Nassif, Executive Director of the Commission, Professor Aser Hani, Assistant Director of Programs, and Professor Abdel-Alim Refaat, representative of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. The visit aims to hold introductory sessions on activities The Authority, and enhancing ways of cooperation between the Authority and the university in the fields of scientific research and increasing the opportunities for university members to obtain grants and foreign missions provided by the Fulbright Authority of Egypt.
During his meeting with the delegation, Dr. Jan expressed his happiness at the presence of members of the Commission at Beni Suef Technological University, especially since the university seeks to increase the opportunities for its researchers, students and affiliates to obtain scholarships in order to support scientific research there.
In the presence of the university president, the delegation held an introductory seminar on the Authority’s activities, attended by faculty members, supporting staff, administrators, and students. It explained the Authority’s various programs for graduate students, doctoral research, faculty programs, professional programs, and American programs, in addition to explaining how to apply for these scholarships.
A presentation was also made about the Community Colleges Program, which is a program funded by the US Department of State, and provides the opportunity for Egyptian professionals to attend one academic year at an American community college to build their technical skills in applied fields, enhance their leadership capabilities, and strengthen their proficiency in the English language. The program also provides opportunities for vocational training and community participation, and participants are expected to contribute after their return to Egypt to the country’s development and economic growth upon completion of the program.
During the visit, the Authority’s delegation participated in the “16 Days” campaign to combat violence against women by inspecting an awareness booth set up by the Equal Opportunities Unit within the university to display artistic works that highlight the suffering of women, and to raise awareness of the services provided by various agencies to support women.
It is worth noting that the Fulbright Commission Egypt is a committee for educational and cultural exchange between the United States of America and the Arab Republic of Egypt. It was established pursuant to an international cooperation protocol between the two countries that was signed; To facilitate and manage a program for educational and cultural exchange between the two countries. Fulbright grants cover the expenses of accommodation, health insurance, and travel to and from the United States, in addition to sharing in the tuition expenses for granting a master’s degree and others.
