Dr. Jan Henri Hanna, President of Beni Suef University of Technology, participated in the meeting of the Governorate’s Economic and Social Advisory Council, headed by Dr. Mohamed Hani Ghoneim, Governor of Beni Suef, as part of preparations for participation in the third edition of the African Intra-Trade Exhibition, organized by the Ministry of Trade and Industry in cooperation with the African Union and the Secretariat of the  FreeTrade Agreement of the African continent, during the period from 9-15 November 2023 at the Egypt Exhibition Center, which is expected to have the participation of 75 countries and 1,600 exhibitors from various African countries, in order to showcase trade and investment opportunities in a number of African countries.

 

During the meeting, the governor stressed that Cairo’s hosting of the exhibition for the second time reflects the Egyptian state’s commitment to enhancing comprehensive economic development efforts on the African continent by increasing trade exchange rates and promoting joint manufacturing projects, as well as working to achieve continental economic integration, especially since the exhibition contributes to activating the trade agreement. AFCFTA and aims to increase the rates of intra-African trade and showcase the great investment opportunities and potentials available in the continent.

 

The governor directed the heads of the industrial zones and the Investors Association to quickly inform the heads industrial companies, which did not express their willingness to participate in the exhibition, of the importance of  theparticipation in it and the economic returns at all levels, in order to increase their exports abroad. He also refered to preparing proposals and mechanisms to support exports to present it to the competent authorities to develop the governorate’s exports.

 

For his part, Dr. Jan Henry, President of Beni Suef Technological University, stressed the importance of enhancing joint cooperation between the governorate and the university through implementing development plans, empowering local industry, and supporting all service and development sectors to improve the level of services provided to the people of the governorate, to contribute to building and developing society, especially since Beni Suef Governorate is witnessing a clear shift in the field of industry, stressing that the university is fully prepared to cooperate with Beni Suef Governorate, in the field of scientific research to solve any technical problems in the field of mechatronics and other technological fields.

 

The meeting was attended by Dr. Assem Salama, Deputy Governor, Major General Hazem Ezzat, General Secretary, Major General Sami Allam, Assistant General Secretary, the Director of the Economic Unit, Rapporteur of the Advisory Council at the Governor’s General Office, representatives of Beni Suef and Al Nahda Universities, the President of the Kom Abu Radi Investors Association, and the heads of Industrial areas, and a number of investors.

 

The meeting was also attended by the heads of the local units (Beni Suef, Biba, Al-Fashn), and the heads, directors and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce, the Technology Village, the Enterprise Development Agency, the National Council for Women, the National Population Council, the Regional Federation of Associations, the Export Development Authority, and the Industrial Modernization Center.
