Dr. Ayman Ashour, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, opened on Saturday morning, the activities of the week of preparing leaders of national and technological universities organized by the Ministry’s Leadership development Institute, in cooperation with Galala University, from January 27 to February 1, with the participation of 700 male and female students, under the auspices of the ministers of Higher education and youth and sports, in the presence of a number of presidents and representatives of national and technological universities, and the deans and directors of academic programs of the university, at the headquarters of Galala University.
Dr. Ayman Ashour emphasized on the importance of holding this week’s activities that reflects attention paid by the Egyptian state to its youth, for promoting their independent personalities, and providing them with various scientific and personal skills and abilities, which make them key actors in their society and country, pointing out that establishment of technological and national universities and new study programmes, mainly aim at providing youth with the skills required for the labour market.
The minister referred to the ministry’s interes t in supporting student activities, as it is an essential pillar of building the integrated personality of the student and The Egyptian state’s interest in expanding its bases , with guidance, care and support from the political leadership, stressing that the importance of student activities is not only because it contributes to building balanced personalities for students, and exploiting their energies and enthusiasm in activities benefiting them and their society, away from destructive and abnormal ideas, but also because they help us discover the students’ skills and talents in various fields of student activities including scientific, sports, artistic, and literary activities, so that universities and institutes become factories supplying Various fields of creativity with talented youth and heroes that would raise Egypt’s name highly in the fields of youth competition regionally and internationally.
Dr. Ali Abdul Tabab, Dean of the Egyptian Korean Faculty of Technological Industry and Energy, emphasized that student activities are the link between university studies and the labour market, because they help develop the practical skills required in the labour market. They also develop the spirit of participation, honest competition and creativity of students and provide an atmosphere of joy and pleasure that makes them more interactive in their lives.
It is worth noting that the opening program for the week of preparing leaders of national and technological universities included performances, a line up for the participating universities, and a concert by the choir of the Faculty of Music Education at Helwan University. The events of this week will include sports activities ( five-a-side football, table tennis, and tennis), cultural activities through information league, social activities (chess competition, ideal student competition), artistic activities (music competitions and plastic arts competitions) and scientific and technological activities, in addition to organizing a meeting for students with the week’s personality; To hold a dialogue with him, within the framework of the “Sand” initiative, and to set up the Variety Theatre.
